Men in Gray”Christian, Confederate, Military Ceremonial Honor Guard!”
When the War for Confederate Independence had finally passed, and the surrender of our Confederate Armies sent the last of our Men in Gray marching off into history. Those once long columns of Men in Gray finally diminishing in numbers until on 19 December 1959 the last of them were gone. A generation was born that knew not the honor, glory, splendor and grace of our Christian Confederate Gentlemen Warriors. Finally all that was once Confederate and Southern became more legend then reality!
There were those die-hard patriots who continued to believe in the just and honorable cause, for which our Men in Gray fought. While they were forced by circumstances to put these things aside for a season, they continued to hope and pray for that glorious day, wherein the Confederacy would arise again from the flames and ashes of war. They looked longingly toward the horizons of future history, praying diligently, that if only they could see the return of those long columns of Men in Gray, their faith in the future would be restored.
Our Men in Gray are not a side topic nor an issue to be avoided, but rather the centerpiece of all that it means to be Confederate and Southern. It is of paramount importance that we stay the course and finish the work, as the posterity of those who fought against overwhelming numbers and firepower, for the sake of liberty and national independence. General Thomas J. 'Stonewall' Jackson himself believed the Confederacy held a special calling from the Almighty God, it is for us to fulfill that calling.
Shall we deny or ignore our calling, preferring the comfort of a gilded cage rather then the challenges of freedom, in an independent Confederate States of America? Are we truly on the right course toward the vindication of our just and honorable cause, without reconstituting those long columns of Men in Gray? While looking down a parade route a teenager once ask of his father; 'Dad, where are our Boys in Gray?' To which the father answered; 'Son, they have not come, because we have not sent them!' It is our intention is to make that happen, by sending them!
It is for us to take the moral high ground and reconstitute those long gray lines in such a manner, so as to cause the world to stand in awe. It is for us to build into the Confederate Legion itself, the concept of Christianity, Family, Confederacy and Honor. We must become more then merely a band of ‘good ole boys’ out for a protest or parade, but rather become professional in appearance and military demeanor. We must teach, train and educate our Legionnaires in such a way, that ‘we the people’ will see in them within their numbers, the finest qualities of the past, present and future of the Ole South and of the Confederacy.
The Confederate Legion as it was perceived from the beginning was to exemplify the highest traditions as it were, of our Confederate history, heritage, culture and nationhood. The organization must become so respected and revered, that mothers, fathers, sisters and friends alike, would urge the men in their lives to become members. The idea was that it would become more then a bunch of ‘good ole boys' or `good ole girls' parading haphazardly down the street in a protest or parade. They would have precision, professionalism and military decorum in the truest meaning of those words!
My prayers have gone heavenward many times, that the Confederate Legion would become the instrument, through which the entire Confederate Cause will be measured. Our Lord gave me a series of dreams and visions, which I believe were for the purpose of confirming and yes adjusting, my ideas concerning the Legion. I am convinced that if we follow God’s strategy, the very title Confederate Legion would gain and hold the undivided attention of the general population, the mass media and the bureaucracy. We would, through the Confederate Legion, see honor, respect and widespread support for the Confederate Cause, return in our lifetime.
Somehow I lack the words to properly define the Confederate Legion as imagine so long ago, as our Lord and Savior showed me in my dreams and visions, but suffice it to say, it had always been conceived as an organization of the highest principles, morality and honor. The Confederate Legion I saw in those series of dreams and visions can come to pass only inasmuch as we do God's will, and cause it to become like nothing else ever witnessed upon this earth. In my heart of hearts I still see and hear a pass and review parade, with numbers so great, the clicking of their heals on the pavement will sound like rolling claps of thunder.
Let us therefore join together, reconstitute those long columns of Men in Gray and send them, in answer to this young teenagers question and his father’s response. The Confederate Legion has a date with destiny; a destiny, which I believe, is in accordance with the Divine Providence of Almighty God. But it is for those of our own time to seek diligently to be found worthy of His Divine Grace and Mercy, not only in word but also in deeds performed.
The Confederate Legion is seeking 3,000,000 members, a goal we intend on meeting; however, those who make application should be prepared to honor their pledge. We have no legal means such as Military Contract, which is enforceable under law. Therefore we depend upon a sense of personal honor, integrity and duty, to compel each member to fulfill his Pledge of Honor, before both God and Man.
Short of liberation, we lack a Commander in Chief; therefore we must look to the Almighty God alone as our ultimate Commander. There is no doubt whatsoever in my own mind; The Confederate Legion must become the spearhead of an unconditional victory, in behalf of the liberation of the Confederate States of America. Our enemies have won on the battlefields of an aggressive war, but we shall win on the battlefields of liberty, through lawful and peaceful means.
God save the Confederacy
